Obituary from the Glynn County Star-Banner, September 10, 1950 by Maureen Welch

Hazel Lou O’Brien, 58, of Weeping Stone, Georgia, went to her eternal reward in the arms of Jesus, Thursday, August 30, while on her first to Europe. She was swept off the Cliffs of Moher in County Clare, Ireland, by an unexpected gust of wind. Along with her 40 year-old daughter, Betty Lou “Baby-Doll” O’Brien, Hazel was drowned in the sea there, also known as the Atlantic Ocean.
Hazel Lou was president of Glynn County Quiltmaker’s Guild which took first place in state both in 1948, and 1949, in addition, receiving honorable mention in several tri-state quilt shows. She manned the Salvation Army coffee canteen at every local disaster and was a member in good standing of Temple Brethren United Assembly.
Hiram Butram and Sons, out of Savannah, will be in charge of arrangements and will place notification of such on the doors of Temple Assembly.
She was told not to go so close to the edge.
